ASSESSMENT OF THE POSSIBILITY OF USING DIFFUSION TENSOR IMAGING AND TRACTOGRAPHY FOR NEUROSURGICAL PLANNING OF SUBCORTICAL BRAIN LESIONS IN CHILDREN

FULL TEXT:

Abstract

Surgical intervention remains the key method for treating brain tumors. However, safe resection requires precise mapping of functionally significant structures. Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and MR tractography have become promising non-invasive methods of preoperative planning, allowing the assessment of the location of white matter fibers in relation to the neoplasm. This is especially important in pediatrics, where the preservation of neurocognitive functions is critically important.
