The Role of Iridodiagnostics in the Predisposition of Children to Psychoneurological Disorders
Abstract
Aim. The aim of this study was to determine the diagnostic potential of iridodiagnostics in detecting the risk of psychoneurological instability in children and adolescents.
Materials and methods. A total of 30 children and adolescents treated at the ophthalmology department of TashPMI were examined, in addition to iridodiagnostic data from 36 deceased individuals after completed suicides and 17 individuals after suicide attempts. Examinations were performed using the EH 900 V IRISCOPE device. Parameters such as iris type, density, relief, pupillary margin, autonomic ring, and pigment spots were evaluated.
Results. In healthy students, radial-wavy and radial-homogeneous iris types predominated (87%), reflecting strong constitution. In individuals with psychoneurological instability, radial-lacunar and lacunar types were more frequent, accompanied by weak iris density (5–6 grades), deformations of the autonomic rings, and pigment spots, particularly localized on the “11:00–13:00” meridian corresponding to the pituitary projection. These changes correlated with symptoms including hyperactivity (86%), emotional lability (71%), and anxiety (28%).
Conclusion. The findings confirm that iridodiagnostics can serve as an additional method for early identification of children and adolescents at risk of psychoneurological disorders, enabling timely preventive interventions and monitoring.
