Peculiarities of surgical practice and priority of intraoperative navigation system in patients with congenital atresia of the external auditory canal
Abstract
This article is devoted to the creation of an effective method of complex functional rehabilitation of patients with acquired atresia and stenosis of the external auditory canal, its implementation into practice, and assessment of the feasibility of a navigation system (NS) during surgical intervention. In 2024, with the support of the KOFIH Charity Foundation, we examined 55 children aged 6 to 18 with congenital atresia of the unilateral and bilateral external auditory canal. With the help of an electromagnetic navigation system, neuromonitoring, the atresia of the external auditory canal was simultaneously eliminated and tympanolastic surgery was performed. Of these patients, 10 children had the opportunity to undergo surgery using a navigation system (NS). During long-term observation, results of consistency in the formation of the external auditory canal were achieved, with an average bone-air gap of 15-20 dB during audiological examination.
